Daniel Heffner, Principle | Co-Founder
Daniel co-founded Solace Energy in 2021 with a passion for helping make renewable energy more approachable, understandable, and accessible. With nearly 20 years of experience in sustainable design and energy efficiency, his background spans energy modeling, energy audits, LEED project reviews, solar design, and hands-on installation work.
He holds a Master of Science in Architecture focused on High Performance Buildings and brings both technical expertise and real-world field experience to every project—from leading solar installation crews to managing complex energy initiatives.
Outside of work, you can usually find Daniel sketching out his next home renovation project or exploring the world at the wonderfully slow pace of his two young kids.
Janelle Vandergrift, Co-Founder
Janelle co-founded Solace Energy and has recently stepped into a more active role within the company, guiding communications and partnerships.
Janelle has worked in non-profits for over 20 years and holds a Master's in Social Work. Her experience has primarily been in community development, program management and policy. She loves supporting people who want to approach their energy use differently but don’t know where to begin and working with clients and community partners committed to a more sustainable and resilient future.
Janelle loves growing, preparing and eating (!) food as well as backyard composting. A homebody at heart, you can find Janelle puttering around her house, walking in the neighborhood or reading in her spare time.
